Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky [1889 1972] was a Russian American aviation pioneer in both helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. Sikorsky designed and flew the world's first multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft the Russky Vityaz in 1913 and the first airliner in 1914. After immigrating to the United States in 1919 he founded the Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation. In 1923 he began developing the first of Pan American Airways ocean-conquering flying boats used in the 1930's. In 1939 he designed and flew the Vought-Sikorsky VS-300 which was the first viable American helicopter which pioneered the rotor configuration used by most helicopters today. In 1942 he modified the Sikorsky R-4, and it became the world's first mass-produced helicopter. Listed for auction is a [TLS] typed letter signed by Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky on the letterhead of Sikorsky Aircraft and dated September 11, 1970. The letter is addressed to a collector and is signed ''I. Sikorsky'' in black pen above his typed name. The letter measures 8.50 x 11.00 inches, it has trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition. The autograph is authentic,
and the letter is a nice example of this prominent aviation pioneer.
