The Florin was a coin worth
two Shillings
, it was also sometimes known as a "two bob bit". It was issued from 1849 until 1967 and was worth one tenth of a Pound, or twenty-four old Pence. It also bears no relation to the medieval Gold Florin which was worth Six Shillings.
George VI was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 until his death in 1952. He was concurrently the last Emperor of India until August 1947.
